Linkin Park Biography And Their Music
Any great fan of American rock music would definitely appreciate a good read of the Linkin Park biography. In 1996, the band was formed in Agoura Hills, California. They experienced their first break into the international music scene in 2005 when they released their first album, 'Hybrid Theory', which was taken from one of their previous band names. The album was certified diamond record by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The group was originally made up of Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, and Rob Bourdon. They were three high school friends who shared the same musical ambitions. They soon decided to form a band which they then called Xero and then went out to recruit David Farrell, Joe Hahn, and Mark Wakefield.
They also went through some difficulties as they were looking for a record company to grant them a record deal. This is just typical of any other band. However, because of these difficulties, they experienced some misunderstandings among themselves which led to the departure of Wakefield and Farrell.
And since Wakefield was their vocalist at that time, the band needed an immediate replacement for him. They auditioned Chester Bennington and finally accepted him in March of 1999. After that they thought of changing their name from Xero into Hybrid Theory and then eventually into Linkin Park. Any Linkin Park biography will tell you that it is a homage to Santa Monica's Lincoln Park.
The band, after so many times that they tried and approached many record labels, they were finally noticed by Jeff Blue, who at that time was vice president of Warner Bros. Records. Their debut album, 'Hybrid Theory', which was released in 2000 was the result of this partnership with Blue.
The album was a sweet success for the group because it contained almost a decade of their works that were not able to get published. The album sold over 4.8 million copies. With their hit single, 'Crawling', the band won the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance. They were also nominated for two other Grammy's, for Best Rock Album and Best New Artist. This is a rare feat for a band to achieve with just their debut album. Needless to say, the awards helped sell more albums and launched the group into the awareness of the global rock music scene. Linkin Park merch also started to appear.
The band released other commercially successful albums after that. They followed their debut album with 'Meteora' which was released in 2003 and which name was taken from the region of Meteora in Greece. The album sold about 3 million copies and went up various music charts in that year.
Next was 'Minutes to Midnight' that was launched on March 15, 2007. The group spent about 14 months just to record and finish the album. It has since sold over 8 million copies.
On September of 2008, they released their most recent album titled 'A Thousand Suns'. It was a concept album which had themes of war and especially nuclear warfare. The critics gave it a mixed review.
This is certainly a short Linkin Park biography because we can definitely expect more from the band. With their wide range of talent that covers rap, rock, nu metal and others, the band will surely come up with new songs and styles. For this reason we can expect higher demand for their albums and band merch for their fans to enjoy.
